Detailed navigation
The original Hicks flexible pin was developed in the 1960’s for industrial applications, particularly for high speed rotating machinery, achieving highly effective gear and bearing load sharing and providing compact and very power-dense systems e.g. gas turbine-driven generators.
Few years back Orbital2 started to successfully apply the flexible pin epicyclic gearbox to a variety of industrial applications. Our main focus was the energy market, process industries like cement, sugar, rubber and plastics or mining and marine applications.
The flexible pin gearbox provides compact size, high reliability and inherent ability to cope with shock loads. Shock loads occur mainly in a grinding process where Orbi-fleX® epicyclic gearboxes find perfect utilization for instance in the HPGR technology.
